John might be typecast as the Folksy Americana sort, but he comes from all backgrounds, and can both fortify and blend seamlessly into a track from any genre... And we've got evidence.  Check out this guitar track he did on "All Out" by top Hip Hop artist Snak The Ripper (ft. Rittz).

This album is a 2010 Juno nominee, and winner of 3 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards including “Best folk acoustic album” and “Best rock album”.  John was tasked with producing an album that merged traditional Aboriginal elements with deep country. The result was this groundbreaking, evocative, and award winning sound.

All 3 albums that John produced for Ridley Bent won multiple CCMA, BCCMA and WCMA awards, and Bent's music career enjoyed a major shift as a result.  John connected Bent with some of the hottest players in Canada, including renowned drummer Pat Steward (The Odds, Jan Arden).  The band took the scene by storm as they toured Canada and transformed the sound of Canadian Country.

The Album "Let It Shine" was produced by John MacArthur Ellis for Jeremy Fisher on the major label Sony BMG Music Canada.  "High School" was the second single from the album and garnered airplay on Canadian commercial radio and music television in early 2005, and subsequently launched Fisher's career to the next level.

This music video highlights the prolific, fun, and overall fantastic week John had recording Jen Lane's album "This Life of Mine".  “This Life of Mine“ charted on National College Radio for over 24 weeks, including reaching #1 on the National Earshot Folk/Roots chart. It also earned substantial radio play on Commercial Country, CBC, and Satellite Radio.  This album also garnered Lane nominations for a 2017 Western Canadian Music Award for Roots Solo Artist of the Year, and the Saskatchewan Country Music Award for Roots Artist of the Year. Lane was subsequently selected to perform at SXSW in 2017 and MerleFest in North Carolina in April 2018.
